Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Connecticut

In my work as a trauma therapist, I've observed how difficult it can be for people to move beyond familiar patterns of thinking, feeling, and responding, even when they have spent considerable time in therapy. They may understand where their struggles come from, recognize their patterns, and still find themselves reacting in the same ways.

One of the things that interests me about ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is the possibility of experiencing some distance from those familiar patterns.

Ketamine can temporarily change the way people experience their thoughts, emotions, and surroundings. Some people describe less rumination, a change in perspective, or an ability to approach difficult experiences differently. Others have experiences that are harder to put into words. Each person's response is different.

My approach to KAP incorporates psychotherapy throughout the process, including preparation, therapeutic support during dosing sessions, and integration afterward.

The Process

We begin with preparation. This involves discussing your history, current concerns, and what you hope to get out of treatment. We also consider what resources and support you may need, particularly if you have a history of trauma.

During dosing sessions, I provide therapeutic support while allowing space for your individual experience. I hold the space for your experience.

Integration sessions provide an opportunity to explore what came up during treatment and consider how it connects with your everyday life. Sometimes an experience makes sense immediately. Other times, it takes several conversations to understand what, if anything, has shifted.

My Clinical Approach

My background is in trauma treatment, and this informs the way I approach KAP. I have extensive experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, OCD, and the lasting effects of trauma.

My clinical training includes EMDR, Ego State Therapy, and AEDP. I am particularly interested in how people develop patterns of responding that once served a purpose but may no longer be helpful.

Preparation and stabilization are important parts of my work. I believe treatment should be individualized and appropriately paced. Not everyone comes to therapy with the same history, needs, or capacity for emotional processing.

Is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Right for You?

KAP may be an option for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, or trauma-related symptoms, particularly when previous treatments have not provided sufficient relief. An initial evaluation and medical screening are required to determine whether treatment is appropriate. Ketamine is not suitable for everyone.

I work with Journey Clinical for medical evaluation, prescribing, and medication-related services. I provide the psychotherapy component, including preparation, therapeutic support during dosing sessions, and integration.
